Really...? [27 Dec 2007|04:34pm]
[ mood | confused ]

I am new to ex-mormonism, and still trying to de-contaminate my brain, and life. Everyday I discover something to see in a new light without the influence of mormonism and the way I was raised and/or trained to think. Stupid everyday things. Like, sometimes I still feel anxious to check and make sure I have everything for Sunday dinner so I don't have to "break the sabbath".

It brings me peace to be out, and I feel more happy now than I really ever have, but there are things that confuse me. For example: What do people like Gordon Hinkley have to gain by misleading all the people who believe in mormonism? I guess he doesn't receive an monetary compensation for his time. Is it naive to believe that? Is it the recognition/power thing? That the entire active membership looks to him for reason, and guidance? What the hell is it?

If this is blatantly obvious to all but me, please explain.

Thank you.

Response to resignation letter [27 Dec 2007|07:13pm]
Hi all.

I just got a letter (response) back from my resignation letter to Salt Lake. It said they forwarded a copy of my letter to the local bishop or BP and included the "An Invitation" pamphlet as well. I expected this because I've read this on Mormon No More. I guess I should expect a letter from the local bishop next?

I'm just curious if any of you got lucky enough not to have to be put through the ringer? Did you not get any letter back at all?

And for those of you who got the response and the "An Invitation" pamphlet, what happened next? How long should I expect this to continue? I know that on the website it says it can take quite a while...

Gah, this is ridiculous.

Interesting article:

Now. I wonder why the LDS church isn't included in this investigation, considering their attitude toward tithing?
